The BRAED region has it all when it comes to agriculture. It has a central location, a diverse agriculture sector, and innovative producers and processors. It all adds up to an abundant opportunity.

The BRAED region has close to 3 Million acres of cultivated cropland and over $1.4 Billion in Gross Farm Receipts (2016). The region’s highest producing crops are wheat, canola, barley, dry field peas, alfalfa and oats. Cattle, hog and poultry farming is also quite prevalent, with all livestock and poultry representing 8% of the provincial market value total.

Value-Added Agriculture

BRAED region’s agriculture industry is thriving. Successful farm ventures and new opportunities in areas such as Agri-Food, Hemp Based Biocomposites and Pulse Crop Processing, make BRAED the place to focus your investment.

The Battle River Alliance for Economic Development {BRAED) is pursuing investment linked to the region’s strength in agriculture. Bunge Canada’s Wainwright facility is one of three Bunge plants located in Alberta. The Wainwright plant is designed to process agricultural oils for human consumption. Product from this plant is shipped to many locations throughout Canada and beyond.
