Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Wainwright is located in the rural eastern region of Battle River. It has been at the centre of the Canadian Army’s operational effectiveness since 1941, preparing units for the Second World War, the Korean War, service Afghanistan.
The Wainwright Garrison houses two major training centres, the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre and the 3rd Canadian Division Training Centre.
