Tourism is one of the leading industries in the province of Alberta, employing over 114,000 Albertans and generating over $7.4 billion in annual expenditures. It is supported by a range of tourism, hospitality and service-related businesses that cater to the needs of Albertans traveling in their own province, as well visitors from other parts of Canada, the United States, Mexico, Europe and Asia.

The Battle River region of east central Alberta contains a vast assortment of landscapes including flat plains and rolling hills, winding rivers and sparkling lakes, jagged hoodoo formations and warm, open skies. The region’s many tourist attractions and venues are easily reached via well-maintained highways. Tourism opportunities and amenities are plentiful throughout the region. GO EAST is a non-profit corporation dedicated to being the driving force for innovative and collaborative tourism marketing and development that contributes to the sustainability, prosperity and quality of life for tourism operators, communities and economic development groups East of Edmonton and across East Central Alberta. They have achieved much success in hosting various culinary tours and events throughout the Battle River region.

BODO Archeological Society operates the Bodo Site and Centre by providing public archaeology opportunities and educational programs through heritage tourism and community engagement efforts. Located 35 km south of Provost, in east-central Alberta is one of Alberta’s largest and well-preserved archaeological sites. Tourists can experience the site through tours, camps and special programs.
